Tracking Keyword search statistics?

I have looked at how many million results there are in a keyword. So today I think i was ranked in second page out of 135,000,000 websites. This keyword though, is VERY strange, i've gotten 2 hits from it, just now, (maybe updated just now), and i'm #16 or something, but I'm wondering, is this keyword really something people search all the time? I mean it's such an inspecific term, so odd....
It's sort of like searching for the word "newspaper".. there would be lots of results but its so obscure and i dunno.

What i'm wondering is, is there a tool that tells statistics, of how many people search this etc, or a rough estimate? Perhaps google tells it, but i wasn't able to find it.

I noticed overture.com but the statistics there are very obscure, and i think are only for Yahoo!.

    Any ideas?

The number of results has nothing to do with how many people search for it. You could rank #1 for [search=google]the[/search] (8.6B results) and I bet you would get less than 10 referrals.

    I rank #1 (and #2) for [search=google]add this[/search] (844M results), and I bet there is 1 referral per month (if I'm lucky).
