Tracking HTML anchor clicks

    Is there a way to track when links get clicked without sacrificing SE optimization? In other words, I know it can be done using javascript, but is there a method that will still allow a search engine to follow the link, and yet track it?

    why not just use your stats program like awstats and see where the visitors are comming from ?
