Tracking affiliate sales

    Hi,

I have an affiliate site and make some good sales from it. What I would like to do though is track the keyword that was used to find my site (from organic SEO) that led to the sale.

Is there any way to do this without spending a small fortune on software?

    Thanks for any suggestions.

You can use Google Analytics or ewebcounter. I personally found ewebcounter good. You get to see the the keyword, search engine and the most popular keyword cloud for your site. ewebcounter offers both free and paid access. if you want to track upto 5 sites, then you should be ok with a free account.
    Hope this information helps.

    Thanks shrkscn,

However, what I would like to do is track when an affiliate sale is made so I know which search engine and keyword was used for the sale.

    Thanks though.

Most regular analytics programs won't work unless the merchant would let you add a tracking pixel to their cart.

There is one really good solution I know of. You don't need the merchant to add any tracking
and it works with most networks. Also SUPER affordable.

The reason I'm linking to my blog post about it is so you can read the comments too.

(No affiliate link used in the blog. I just blogged about this to help affiliates, not to personally profit.)

IN COMMENTS: Some of my readers raised good questions about how do you know your keywords and data are safe using an app like this and I got the developer of the software to come over and answer.

I was actually reading that very post before your reply! Thanks for the suggestion, I'll take a further look at the software.
