Tracker/Co-Op not working this morning?

Discussion in 'Keyword Tracker' started by Cartman, May 18, 2005.

This morning, my site wouldn't validate in the co-op, said it couldn't find ads on the main page, even though they're right there. Then when I went to check my keyword tracker, it said it couldn't find the advanced script, even though I checked and it's there and I can access it manually. Did something change overnight?

My Google KW Tracker (which is on a different account and doesn't use the advanced script) works fine, so it can't be an API issue. Any ideas?

"Ads not found on http://www . celebrityseats . com/ (I added the spaces)

Site failed automatic validation as of 2005-05-18 (make sure URL and site type is correct - if everything is correct, make a request in the forum for assistance)."

As for the KW Tracker, it spit back the following:

Warning: file_get_contents(http://www. celebrityseats .com/yahoomsn.php?se=m&d=100&l=9999&q=Baseball+Tickets&u=http%3A%2F%2Fwww. celebrityseats .com&s=1): failed to open stream: HTTP request failed! HTTP/1.1 500 Internal Server Error in /home/.sites/28/site1/web/tools/keywords/functions.php on line 111

That's an error with the server you run the script on.

That doesn't make any sense, for the ad network it doesn't call any script on my server. And the HTTP/1.1 500 Internal Server Error in /home/.sites/28/site1/web/tools/keywords/functions.php is a reference to your server, not mine.

Why do you think it's a reference to my server? That just tells what file/line of code the file_get_contents function failed.

I ran my stats this morning and everything ran great for me. It's been running much faster and smoother now that it did for the last couple of weeks.

Any ideas what might be going wrong on my end then?

No server maintenance/upgrades were scheduled on my side, I haven't touched any code in days, the co-op ads are still displaying on the site, and I can manually access the yahoomsn.php file and it returns results. Help!

When I manually enter the string that bombs out in the KW ranker, it returns:
    a:2:{s:7:"results";s:4:"9999";s:5:"total";s:3:"147";}

Yet for some reason, the program is returning "failed to open stream: HTTP request failed!" when running the same request. Wondering if there's some issue going on between my server and yours, since no one else seems to be complaining about it.

Not sure to be honest... do you have a different server you could try it on?

Nope.. I can contact my hosting company and inquire if any changes have been made, just let me know specifically what I should be asking them that you think could be affecting this. PM me if need be. Thanks!

Also check your error logs for clues.

Not really sure to be honest... if you have access to your logs, see if it's logging the requests, and if it's returning an HTTP 200 (OK) response with the request.

Ok, talked to my hosting company - They said the following:

Sometime last night the following was added on to johnny (the server you are on) because of attacks against it for the past 3 days...

Mod_Security - Adds another layer of security for your web applications.
Mod_Dosevasive - Provides evasive action in the case of a DoS attack.
Samhain - File Integrity Detection System.
Smartd - Hard Drive reliability monitor. Provides i/o analysis and failure rates.

    Does that help any?

Beats me... maybe the server thinks you are being attacked because of multiple requests or something.
