I drive traffic to my affiliate websites both by SEO and PPC and getting sales. I want to track conversions for PPC traffic and SEO traffic and want to know which traffic is driving more traffic which is converting. I run google analytics and Google Webmaster tools on the website, how can I track conversions in depth?

Hi Jin.There is technology known as reverse proxy, or conversion tracking, which allows you have a landing page, looking exactly like the customer's website, on the end of a keyword, which allows you to monitor clicks, and even calls if you implement unique telephone numbers. E.g. solicitors in london (keyword) will have its own proxy page, and unique telephone number, hence you being able to offer improved analytics.

You can link the proxy sites to the customers site through analytics, this enables the website to benefit from traffic even through the user isn't hitting the customer's actual website. The downside of doing it this way, is you won't be able to monitor the separate clicks from SEO or PPC..

Reverse proxy is a fantastic tool, as it also lets you see the keywords, or keyword groups, which are generating telephone calls, instead of just clicks. Clicks may be what you are looking for, it all depends on the type of customer's you are looking after, but the ones I look after, look for calls...

Take a look and let me know what you think..

    Matt

The industry standard Approach is to use Google Analytics for organic traffic conversion tracking, and AdWords or other PPC tracking cone for PPC conversion tracking. There are other analytics software solutions as well. And practically all PPC providers offer some way of tracking conversions. Whatever you are using, just ask their support.
