I live for days when the auction ads earnings spike: So, it works for my digital photography / cameras sites. That spike came from a URL link to a Pentax K10D photography book - proof that something big can come from an underrated link, I guess. I'm definitely going to leave AA on my sites since my Adsense / Chitika earnings were in no way adversely affected at all. Thanks Shoemoney, for this excellent opportunity you've made available!
$40 on 650 clicks? Can't really say I'm that impressed, but if the ads are more related to your content, and the users are shopaholics, you might make some cash?
Yeah - $$$ per click is not impressive, but I'm hoping the incremental revenue I'm getting are from folks who didn't click my Adsense / Chitika anyway. As long as my Chitika / Adsense is not affected (and I never earned a single cent from CJ links to camera stores), I'm happy for any additional $$$
It seems that you are just earning over $0.06 per click and under $0.07 per click on average. Just because you had once spike doesn't mean anything. To work out if it is good or not is not by looking at the spikes, but by actually looking at the overall average of your earnings per click from all of your daily stats or montly stats or whatever. Saying that, I am also currently trying AuctionAds out on one of my sites. It's not looking to good at the moment, but it is day 2.
Agreed, John269, hence I hinted in my original post how I look forward to the spike days I started with AA less than a month ago, so I definitely need more data before I can draw any conclusions. Of course, daily revenues from PPC ads (Adsense / Chitika) will see more consistent daily levels than CPA-type ads (AA in this case).
I run them for a week now. Big bucks have yet to come, lol. 05/30 <aggregate> 1101 33 3.00% $0.00 05/31 <aggregate> 4689 80 1.71% $0.00 06/01 <aggregate> 4401 91 2.07% $0.00 06/02 <aggregate> 3455 72 2.08% $0.20 06/03 <aggregate> 3789 90 2.38% $0.64 06/04 <aggregate> 4739 131 2.76% $0.01 06/05 <aggregate> 5896 120 2.04% $0.00 I doubt that i will make big bucks in my niche though, still i also love the ads since they're related to the content.
Agree with Ruby. Leave it for at least two weeks - the longer the better. I actually started removing AA from some of my camera blogs after a few days of seeing sucky earnings (see my screen shot), only to immediately slap them back up when the delayed earnings figures started coming in. Again, follow Shoe's advice on leaving them there for at least 30 days - after all, if your Adsense / other CPC ads are not affected, where's the harm? And I'd try putting up multiple 250 x 250 AA ad blocks (actually, I'm no authority on this - if anyone can chip in with more ideas, all the better) related to multiple niche sub-topics, like this (I'll take a fictitious digital camera blog as an example): Blog Title - The Canon 1D Mark III Blog Article Title - Best Canon 1D Mark III Bargains Article body - Finding the best bargains for the 1D involves doing some research blah blah blah ... [250x250 Chitika ad on Canon 1D Mark III] [250x250 AA ad on Canon 1D Mark III][250x250 Adsense] [250x250 AA ad on Photography How To][250x250 AA ad on Photography Tips] ... or something like that. The idea is to offer many options to your visitors. They might have come to your site looking for info on the Canon camera, but the ads for photography tips are tightly related, and they might be drawn to that more. Remember, they might not buy the expensive stuff via your site, but if you can attract them with some of the cheaper (and related) products, they might go for those, register with eBay, and bam! - there's your $25 ACRU commission in your account.
I cant wait to try! Do you think that eventully there will be a permanent thread for auctionads? I love the concept and signed up yesterday and i am waiting for my developer to implement on my sites.
You can't look at CPC because the Ads generate (IMO) more clicks than text ads. The images and pricing really help draw clicks. I would look at revenue per visitor or another metric before worrying about clicks because Adsense takes you away from the site, but AuctionAds can be set to open in a new window. Again, creating the opportunity for further clicks. As hard as it is to be patient, I would wait at least a few weeks before making any determinations. Earnings and reporting come in on a delay, and the 30 day cookie could make a big difference over time. It's a totally different paradigm from Adsense. The instant gratification factor is removed in favour of potentially higher payouts. Now if only Shoe could introduce some form of caching so that low traffic sites can convert well without showing untargeted ads on the initial load.
With adsense you also don't take away all your visitors. When ever I click on ads or anything where I know it is an external site from the one that I am on then I will open the external links in a new tab. With CPC, I don't know what you are doing, but my CTR is about 2 - 3 times lower than Adsense and by the looks of it I'm getting rougthly the same ctr on AuctionAds as others on here, even though I do have them on a product price comparsion site which should make ctr's be much higher than what they currently are. But then it is early days as you said and when it comes to affiliate marketing I know how to test and wait and keep at it. Afterall I have been doing this for over 6 years and do it full time and earn a full time income from it.
My AA CTR is double my Adsense CTR. I did have a lower CTR but I did some keyword research and optimized placement a little better. Sorry if I sounded condescending in my post. It's just that after 2 days, most people's AA do not look good and I've read a lot of posts from people expecting money very quickly. My bad.
