I started a blog Jan.1/09 and the traffic results have astounded me! This blog is my passion and I need some fuel for it in order keep up my work! In other words, how can I capitalize on this?

My blog made PR2 after only 3 months and is 100% about remote and "local" travel in Jamaica. People seem to be diggin' it!

Its clean, professional looking and I'd like to keep it that way but be able to make more than $9/month with adsense now LOL.

Here are my stats from Jan.1 til now....and my forecast for this month is well over 6000 UV's.

You can see my blog here: www.jamaicamyway.com

    Advice please??

    Now you using adsense only?
Try to diversity your income source by using more ads network such as adbrite.
Other than that, you can try to use affiliate offered by travel agency such as if your site visitor sign up for the package then the travel agency will paid you certain amount of commission.

When selling ad space is there a set price or you negotiate with the advertiser?

look nice a nice blog, dont sell your ad space too cheap though, I'm sure you will be able to find plenty of advetisers.

It looks like you are starting to capitalize on it. You will have to keep in mind that some sites only go so far until they reach their peaks.

Yah that was my first pick and it was available.

What do you mean? As long as I keep traveling there and doing human interest posts I suspect people will keep reading.

Site is up and quick for me. Just remember to keep adding fresh content preferably every day, but tri-weekly should be the least you post (3 posts a week).
I don't think there is a natural peak you site can reach, just make it bigger and better and people will return in number!
To monetize it I would suggest staying with AdSense, and maybe look at PayPerPost.com, they pay you to write blog posts about their niche.
Finally, affiliate products may work well, such as Jamacian products (I don't know, something like that).

Yes the server was down for a bit yesterday. My apologies.

    yes. its www.jamaicamyway.com

I post every 2nd day faithfully. I already have Adsense on it and that's not really cuttin' it LOL. $9/month sucks.

Thanks for the advice on PPP but I'm not interested in writing about someone else's niche. But I recently started looking for affiliate ideas. Its a work in progress.

Youre actually doing pretty good. Id advise you to google up "travel affiliates" and etc. Youll find a lot which you can capitalize on. And also, your adsense placement need to be adjusted. Just run a split test on your blog. Put a "large square" before the first post that complements your blog's color. Right now your adsense ads look "like ads". Make them "not look like ads".

That's just my 2 cents. There are actually a lot more things to improve your blog. Right now, i think youre leaving money on the table. But its ok, learning to monetize your blog will make the experience even more interesting. ;)

    Hope that helps.

Kirbitz, thanks for those tips. I guess I could move some ads around and see if it makes a different. I was always told that my images in posts should appear above the fold though so if I put a google ad at the beginning I thought it would push everything else down and take away from the content.

Also I'll do some looking around for travel affiliates like you suggested. See what happens from there.
