Could not find this on the forum, so here goes my first thread: Was looking at my websites stats (for my personality test site), identifying the most popular pages so I could check the ad locations/colours on them and my most popular page was showing PSA ads! Tried refreshing.. closed the browser and tried again, tried getting to it from other links, still PSAs So I added &q=personality+tests to the URL and BAM, all the ads changed to personality test ads... to check this was not a fluke I tried the following: &q=driving+lessons "welcome to pass 'N' go" "Win BSM driving lessons", "LetsDrive" "Delivery & Courier Jobs" (works with &s= also) &s=cuddly+toys "Cuddly toys & teady bears", "personalised teddy bears", "cheap sweets", "the world of gund" <-- brand of teddy bear So I have now added &q=personality+test to the links that go to my most popular page and it seems to be working. just thought I would share and spread the &q=love don't use the dark side that is "&q=loans+meds" This would be good for sites with articles.. include the title of the article or better yet keywords in the URL when linking to it. Note that my most popular page was mostly images, so I guess there was not enough text for google to match ads too.
yeap, good observation but still both the page content and the title have priority over this. i mean if the page is about blue widgets, the title is "blue widgets" and the parameter you add is "&myparam=red+widgets", in the best situation you will get from 4 ads, one ad about red widgets... still, that ad can have a pretty high ctr
ooo didnt know that, still handy for those starting out who are not indexed and get a high level of PSA's or sites with content in flash or images.. Maybe I am missing some title / metta information on my page *me goes to look*
Can you show me some html code for this, Im not sure I understand. I have an optimized page and all the ads on the page show something completely different (not even close). How can this be? I have looked at all the source code and this keyword never shows so how can all the ads be on this topic? This page has lots of keyword text so how can it pull ads about a different topic?
for example: if you had a page called fish_tanks.html and it had fish tanks for sale on it and you are getting PSA's or ads for dog bowls you could change the link in your menu to fish_tanks.html?q=fish+tanks
Teddy Bear Teddy Bear Teddy Bear. Funny look top right.... BTW I tried your "trick" on a very stubborn page, but it helped for two views, and then went to Service Ads again. The tried the renaming of the url, but service ads. To much numeric stuff I am afraid
I think on any page if you refresh enough it goes to PSA's ? Try clicking links off the page and links back to the page.
I think if you have too many visits by your own ip it defaults to them. I had this happening at Article Depot and it drove me crazy. After a few days I had an influx of visitors so it was no longer an issue.
Interesting, not just me then The &q= thing is holding up on my site, I am going to hold off any other changes to see what (if any) changed it makes to the CTR and/or earnings.
Interesting... It is certainly worth trying on pages which have a nasty tendency towards PSA's. Assuming always that you white hat it.
