Looking over the terms of service I'm confused about cloaking. It says don't cloak, but further it states: So that's indicating don't cloak to the dp validater. So my question is. Can my website cloak some different content to the search engine bots as to what the visitor sees?
Cloaking will get you banned (not just by DP, but by the SE's as well). Don't do it. Changing content structure for reasons such as Geo-targetting may be acceptable, but removing the ads from your geo-targetted pages would be a violation.
How many cloaked sites have you seen banned? I've only ever had one.... It's harder to get caught than you think if you are good (I'm not by any means the best at it but getting caught is actually quite hard).
We're getting off topic here BUT: I only cloak content about widgets to the search engines, then other content about widgets to the visitor. Which arguably is genuine. I don't show the search engines disney and cloak porn over the top And you're right SEbasic, I've never had a site banned. I do some whitehat some black... But my question is, we all know SE's don't like cloaking, my site my risk. What I want to know is how are the TOS interperated? It says don't cloak, but is that don't cloak to the validator (as in the example) or don't cloak your content to the search engines?
I see people in the network doing it. But how far does it extend. Can we not cloak on our sites *anywhere*, or on the pages ads point to? Or?...
I wouldn't approve a cloaked site to have ads pointing to it... The potential risk is far too high... Have you got URL's for links that point to cloaked sites? (PM me if you do).
