Tos for Selling a Website?

    Hey Guys

I'm interested in selling my website (tube site) but I've never actually sold a site before. I was wondering if anyone can give some general advice in terms of completing the transfer. I'm not exactly sure of the best way to have my name and information completely removed and transferred to the new owner. I'm assuming the priority would be updating the new owner information for the domain registrar and hosting company.

Any advice on what kind of time frame is generally good for completing the transfer? Any rules of thumb about payment? Anything else I should have ready before offering it for sale?

    Thanks!

Well just make sure you receive cleared payment before making the transfer. Beware if you are using paypal as the buyer can file a charge back and you will lose your money and the registrar wont listen to your side of the story. I would recommend some service like escrow.com if the amount is big.

As far as transferring the information goes, just transfer the domain to the buyers account and the info will change. Then transfer all the files etc.

    Good luck!

    I agree with nucleus99 :)

You should pay attention on payments. Before it is cleared before you transfer.
Its better to be alert on this days. Lots of scammers around.

Little tip is try dealing with people who are in your country or a respectable country where the laws work correctly. You can find yourself getting ran over if you do business with someone in an iffy country.

They may be a good person, but many times in Afghanistan or countries close to this it's very to get something if you've been scammed.

Thanks for the advice so far. I know I can push the domain into another account, but I'm assuming the new buyer will want to stay with the hosting company and keep the site running as it is now until/if/when he decides to make changes. So what's the process for transferring a hosting account? Similar to transferring a domain?

And I have a lot of affiliates set up with the main email address. I'm assuming I'll have to go through all of the affiliates and close the accounts? I'm mostly concerned with the new Buyer having access to my information or being able to abuse my identity.
