i've read in the TOS of amazon associates that if you dont make a sale in 3 yrs. you are required to pay amazon 10$. What if you dont use their affiliate program anymore would that still be considered in 3 yrs of using them
Well after 3 years if someone couldn't take a $100 which is the minimum, we can call it as a failure I think. Many would simply move on without bothering what left in their account. So Amazon would get it anyway.
so can we just abandon the account? and will not be required to pay that 10$ since you are not using their widgets/affiliate link anymore?
I think the word you need to look at is "may". They do not reach into your bank account, if that is what you are asking.
They take it out of your earnings. So this is what happens - you start promoting amazon, make about $15 and then give up. You leave the account for 3 years and then they take $10 off you. Same again next month, and your earnings are gone. It is just a maintenance thing for them to recover earnings that would never be paid out. If you make one sale every year, you will never have to pay this fee. If you make one sale every 2 years and 11 months you won't have to pay this fee. Also, they will only take the money from unpaid earnings, so if you don't earn a penny you don't pay a penny.
