Hi everyone, I read an interesting article recently relating to the use of Adsense with Blogs and why bloggers often find that they get better returns from Pay Per View programs rather than Pay per Click programs like Adsense. The reason for low earnings from Adsense ads almost always appears to be the topic of the Blog. If a blog relates to politics, religion, sport, general gossip or celebrities then you are unlikely to attract many advertisers for your topic and therefore the amount earned per click will be very low. They key appears to have a blog related to a topic which involves products that people are looking to buy. For example, a blog on camera or computer parts might be more suitable for Adsense. In any case, there are always alternative advertising programs that one can turn to such as BlogAds which seems to suit some bloggers very well. The author of the article claims that he was earning around $200 per day from a digital camera blod (http://www.livingroom.org.au/photolog/). I had a quick look at his website and he is making good use of large rectangle style google ads place on the left and inline with the content. I have heard of this being a useful technique because the ads will be closer to the content and therefore be more noticeable to the reader since they are drawn to the content on the page. Also, by placing ads inline with the content, it creates the illusion that the ads are actually part of the content. Also the color selection being used here blends in with the site. I think any new blogger could follow this style of layout and not go too far wrong. I also note that the author's website is making use of Blog Ads on the right of the page.
