I think you guys should allow us to edit our posts for an unlimited amount of time.

    Pros:
    1. Less double posting to get the point across (because we can EDIT our posts)

    Cons:
    1. Some people might change stuff to make it seem like they did say anything.

To fix con #1, is to have a wiki style revisions mod to show a list of all the revisions made for that post?

The problem with that would be that we don't want all edit histories available. For example, we go in and edit user's posts often enough for things like affiliate links, cookie stuffing, link spamming, etc - if we wanted those things available for users to see in any way, we wouldn't remove them in the first place.

It would also open things up to more people begging us to delete things instead of the edits (like those who post links and later realize they didn't think first and don't want that deal publicly indexed or in any way archived and viewable) - which we won't do. I'd also be worried that people would think even less before posting than they already do sometimes, knowing they're not stuck with their words. And where would we draw the line in moderation then? For example, if someone attacks another member they get a 2 pt infraction for it. It would make the calls more complicated if we get a report based on an attack post, but the member's edited the content out, and potentially lead to even more complaining about infractions if people think being able to edit something later means they should be allowed to say whatever they want up front (hence my concern about people posting before thinking).

We'd also still have complaints about advertising issues, because not everyone is going to think to look at an edit history after they initiate a deal with someone.

The honesty in advertising thing is a big one, but it's not the only thing to consider.

I have seen people using Images hosted elsewhere to update the auction details. This way you don't have the time constraints. So, If you are really interested you can post your thread as Image or at least a part of the details that would need updates.:)

Mod's are very busy now, especially with banning people that "bump" topics.

Bumping is almost as bad as you say editing is? Ironic isn't it?
