Just curious - how is Lakshmi Mittal still considered an Indian? After all, he has his business in the UK, pays taxes there, and has bought properties over there. How in the hell are Indians celebrating his success?
Hez an Indian by birth, ofcourse. (I'm not quite sure whether hez carrying Indian passport, still or not) If something goes wrong with a person, then you people started telling, yeah.. hez an Indian.
right! mittal is Indian by born..its not problem where he doing business...many people are working beyond there country...but they still love his\he motherland
FYI, I do know that he carries an Indian passport. But my point is, who is an Indian? In my opinion, the moment you leave the country and get another country's citizenship, you're not an Indian any more. So, Lakshmi Mittal is not an Indian. The problem with this new age media in India is that they want to hype everything. Like they did for Kalpana Chawla. How in the hell is she an Indian? Now, are we supposed to celebrate the victory of anyone who's grand daddy was an Indian once?
A person with Indian origin also considered to be an Indian. So if you want to get PIO (Person of Indian Origin) from the government, just to show them that your great grand father or grand father or father or you was an Indian national atleast a day in the past.
And for your kind information, Mittal has got businesses in India also and hez paying taxes in India too. *** If the media portrait things like this, always we have to take it in a positive way. There are lot of chances that the younger generation will take this seriously and try to become in that top 10 list. So I dont see any mistakes on media's way of expressing their views as they are all Indians.
Technically and legally, what you're saying is right. But I'm talking common sense here. A person moves out of his home country to some other country to chase his dreams. He becomes rich, powerful, and successful. Now, the country which he abandoned is celebrating his success. Isn't it a little weird? Not that I'm against moving out of one's homeland or something. I think a man should be allowed to go and live wherever he wants to in this world. But why should Indians celebrate Kalpana's success when she is an American and went to the space representing America? If you want to celebrate the fact that a woman has made it big in a male dominated field, it's fine with me. But the media brings in the stupid nationalistic jingoism by saying she is an Indian.
There are many nations which not even let their people know what a passport is, really. But as an Indian, I'm always be proud that I'm an Indian. Wherever I visit in any part of the world, I can see my fellow Indians there. Therez a proverb there in India, "If you are in a place only where people only eat pythons, then go for the centre piece!" So we Indians try to switch to the place where we go always. Unlike some other people, who don't switch themselves according to the culture of the place where they are visiting, we Indians always obey others sentiments, and at the same time, we will not let our Indian blood goes off in any way. Do you know "Kalpana Chawla" is an inspiration to a lot of students in India nowadays?! I dont see any mistakes to tell Kalpana Chawla as an Indian.
ok let us suppose he is a British by his business...but he is an Indian by name, his culture and bottom of his heart.
What you are trying to prove here?! You want to say Mittal is a British Kalpana is an Amerian. Ok, go ahead. So atleast you people need a person to come and migrate in to your country to get these names.
That iss nothing to be proud of. We should be celebrating when poverty is eliminated completely, not when these rich bas***ds are filling their pockets.
Well; FYI, I'm from India. All I'm trying to say is, the stupid nationalistic jingoism portrayed by the Indian media is misplaced. There are far more important events that require media's attention. Let me ask you a few questions. 1. An Indian soldier was shot dead by Bangladeshi army a few days back. Did you know that? 2. Shariat Law has been implemented in Kashmir. 3. On the day Sanjay Dutt got released, an Indian major was killed in a terrorist attack. Did any TV channel or newspaper even bother to bring this story? These are the events that require media's attention. These are the incidents that can trigger a nationalistic feeling. But unfortunately, they don't do it. But then, knowing India, I'm not surprised at all.
mm.. Interesting. If we started talkin in this way, then no one in this world can be proud of anything. If a guy married a girl and got a kid, we can easily say him "this is nothing to be proud of. We should be celebrating when all the boys n gals in the world will get married completely" So...?! You and me, who are not in that top 10 list, always try to fill our pockets as much as possible always. So why do you expect the rich ones not?!
