Over the last few years SERPS have been getting better at weighing related content and grouping same-site supplemental results. My personal belief is that one effect will be to make reputation management, social media and other human-powered networking just as important as SEO for top ten dominance - given that the sites involved all use spider-accessible coding. What do you think and what is your experience?
I agree. I've pretty much have web 2.0 properties that are relevant to the main site that I'm linking back to - it has helped.
