some times if we move slightly outside the boundries, it can help our site look more natural ( I published a 190 word post last week). I would agree with some of the statements, but I wouldn't fancy my chances trying them all.
Myths are proven to be not existing, right? but the list tels us that this are tips on improving a site, in terms of SEO... Myth 7: H1 (or any header tags) must be used for high rankings. - We would like to use this even if we don't have a high ranking because this would tell visitors the Name of the website, or the main topic in a specific page... precisely...
I have a bad experience of being banned by google just for violating its terms So i cant say you are right
I don't think that is a Myth. If you have a site with lot of pages (1000+) and only few links, a sitemap can make a big difference to the number of pages indexed and thus improve traffic.
No harm will come to you if you did those top ten myth... Myth 2 is important though, you need to submit a sitemap to google so that google spiders can easily crawl your site.
Myth 2: You need a Google Sitemap. - for medium and large sites, a site map is a must have. When you start getting over 100,000 pages you really need a site map. My forum has over 650,000 post. When the site map was working, I had over 300,000 pages indexed with google. I made some changes to the site that messed the sitemap up. I did not know what was going on. For about 2 - 3 weeks the site map was not being built properly. As a result, around 280,000 of my pages were delisted. 6+ weeks later and my site still has not recovered. It took almost 2 years for google to index that many pages, and they were lost in a matter of a couple of weeks. People that say you do not need a site map have probably never dealt with sites with over 100,000 or over 500,000 pages. Myth 5: Your site will be banned if you ignore Google’s guidelines. - Yea, go ahead and ignore google guidelines. When your posting that your site was banned and delisted we will see who was right. The google forum on digital point is full of people asking why they were banned. Go ask them what they think. Myth 4: PPC ads will help/hurt rankings. - some of the biggest sites on the internet, such as yahoo news, bbc, foxnews, CNN use PPC ads. So I do not really understand the question? Myth 6: Your site will be banned if you buy links. - Dont take my word for it, go read the blog of Matt Cutts. The developers in the google webspam division are looking for ways to find people that buy and sell links. There is a reason why google wants to find sites that buy and sell links - so they can be banned. Myth 3: You need to update your site frequently - show me a site that ranks in the top 5 for popular search terms that is not updated on a regular basis. Sites like BBC, CNN, Foxnews are not at the top because they do not update. They are at the top because they update all the time.
hi is really good information most of follow all the guide line.but some are most of use in all time .
Myth 1: You should submit your URLs to search engines. - I agree this is a myth Myth 2: You need a Google Sitemap. - Not essential but I think it helps with website crawling. Good site structure and easy to follow links/navigation is also important Myth 3: You need to update your site frequently - I actually believe this is important. I have sites that aren't updated regularly and this results in less frequent visits from crawlers. They tend to slip in the searches easier. Myth 4: PPC ads will help/hurt rankings. - I agree this is a myth. Myth 5: Your site will be banned if you ignore Google’s guidelines. - Depends which guidelines you ignore! Myth 6: Your site will be banned if you buy links. - I agree this is a myth. Myth 7: H1 (or any header tags) must be used for high rankings. - H1 tags alone will not give you high rankings, or necessarily harm your rankings if you omit them. However including them not only gives the crawlers a better idea of the page content but also gives your human visitors a better idea. Myth 8: Words in your meta keyword tag have to be used on the page. - I agree this is a myth, although it makes logical sense to include your targetted keywords in both meta keywords and page content. Can't see why you wouldn't do that. Myth 9: SEO copy must be 250 words in length. - I agree this is a myth. Myth 10: You need to optimize for the long tail. - I don't really understand where you are coming at with this one. You should optimize for the keywords you want to rank for. Long tail keywords will generally be easier to rank for so could start driving traffic to your site quicker. You should never ignore long tail keywords as these put together can add up to 70% of your traffic. The more keywords you rank well for the more traffic you will get.
Some maybe be myths but some are not myths at all. Per example, this one are tricky, because the way used to write the sentence, but not because the idea itself. -You NEED to update your site frequently. Thats right. Of course that do not mena that every site that was not updated will be banned or go out of the rank. But in most cases, updates help a lot. -You site COULD be banned if you buy links. -Usage of H1, H2, etc. could be helpful optimizing your page. -Optimizing for long tail, in many cases are usefull and provide good traffic. Not ALL cases, buy in many.
I see you are still spreading the knowledge bookkeeper. I'm not so sure about all of them being myths. Rather it's little things that will add up after awhile. Leave enough of them off then your competitors will eat you alive in a high volume niche. In order to fill a bucket full of pebbles you have to put the pebbles in the bucket. Leave out some of the pebbles and your competitors bucket will be heavier.
I agree with most of the people but I disagree about sitemap. Yes, maybe it helps but I really doubt that if google can't crawl your website (due to bad navigation and links) it would go to your sitemap. If the spider strugles to clawl it I think it will just leave it, regardless.
