They can't. Spamming is a form of hacking, since you are seeking to circumvent a system by sending out messages. It is logically impossible for the government to curtail spam on any large network, and they are well aware of this fact. This is precisely why the government wants to introduce Internet 2, which is completely locked down and regulated by them. A lot of you guys here are hating on the spammer. He was rich, but he earned it. He didn't put a gun to peoples head, and make them answer his emails. If your inbox got flooded, all you have to do is delete or set up a program that blocks spam. But the REAL reason why the government is doing this is because this guy wasn't paying taxes. Everything goes back to money. Do you guys really think the government gives a damn about your "email security" Hahahahahhaah!!!!!!!! The only thing they care about is money, and unless you're an illegal immigrant, you're not allowed to make money here in the United States without paying taxes to the government. That is why they banned online gambling sites last year, and that why they go after spammers, as well as prostitutes. Here is the newsflash: The government isn't going to win, so they should stop trying. There will always be people who resist tyranny, and the Internet is the best tool for this purpose.......
It's not taxes, Tesla, its breaking federal law: No; no one made people click the link their email. But engaging in these things is not legal. Preying on stupid people doesn't make it legitimate. He didn't "earn" anything; if he was stealing identities; he was stealing money from people who did earn it. If he was engaging in wire fraud, he was taking money from people and never delivering a product.
OK - You stop buying it and I'll stop spamming, deal? Just kidding. Tesla: Some of the wisest words I've heard on the digitalpoint forums in a LONG time. Though you could add a few things to your list of types of people the governments going after (Biggest tax evaders being drug dealers). It does make perfect sense though - as with everything in life it goes back to money. Lorien: This entire thread is about spam, not the other charges he was convicted of. Note the fact that he's not been proven guilty of anything (besides spamming) yet.
A few years back the "Top spammer" in Russia has been shot in the face. The investigators probably had fun trying to work out who hate him the most out of half a billion people.
Yes, I remember reading it somewhere. Unlike US, Russia doesn't have string rules and regulations against spamming. So he roamed free.
yeah, I thought Scott Rickter (SP) was the "king of spam"...self dubbed title I guess now the question is, how many minions did this king have?
Oh too bad. Am I not going to receive any Canadian Medical news from now on? Or all my lottery winning notifications?
good to see some actions against spam! please someone arrest those stupid lottery and medicine spams also, so that i can read some important emails!
Hmm... there will be lots of spammers on the internet, but at least this might be amount to less spam for some people.
