I'm talking about the websites with a list of links in a specific niche that webmasters vote on to promote their website to the top of the list. Also, this isn't about joining them, it's about creating them to help market your website. I was thinking about finding a script to make a "top site list" for my pc game fan site. Do you think these work well for promoting your website, as well as an SEO effect? I thought I would install it on a subdomain of my main site. Example: topsites.mysite.com I'm going to try it out and let you know the results.
If I understand you right, you want to create a listing where you want to showcase the best websites in your niche - and along with the rest of market leaders, you want to plug in your website as well. There are already a lot of websites that do this for various categories. It could be a little difficult if you are a new site in the PC gaming niche trying to do this only for your niche. Unlike these listing websites that do this for all categories (and hence manage to get a lot of inlinks), your new site may not get as many links and so may not rank well enough. Consequently it may not get the traffic and traction you are hoping for.
I'd imagine that you wouldn't really get much of an SEO boost but its certainly worth a try. You won't know until you try. Many people love these types of sites, such as link directories because people love to throw a link to their site anywhere that it's easy. I would think at the very least you could get some decent traffic to the topsites section of your site for people wanting to get a backlink.
Is it sort of like a digg for websites? It may work, but I can imagine it is a very competitive area. The thing is, you will need traffic not just from people who submit sites (those will come) but also from people who may not submit a website but they are interested in finding out which websites are trending. Those will be tough to get. Keep us updated on the project!
I not thinking that really help in SEO but it a place for people to promote their site . If you said SEO , you can notice that lot of classified and directories sites are not working that well as previous anymore. If it free, for sure lot of people come to submit their game and sites. If you do have huge amount of traffic then i believe you can just start to collect money for them to post their game , apps and website on your website.
