Links are still the name of the game in my book. Mix up your back-links with loads of links from many different sources like directories, article sites, high pr niche sites. Also mix up your anchor text and makesure you don't get too keyword heavy.
The basic link building has been a main seo tactic for years and I do not see this about to change. I think there will be a lesser push for articles this year because I believe Google is droping their value. My money is on getting links from sites with your keywords through them and in their title. This is going to be more important to Google this year I think because it shows how relavant your site is.
Yup...highly relevant links, anchor texts, link placement location and same niche. Those will always be at the top of the list.
not much different than last year. just pay attention to the mayday update for long tail keywords and inner pages with secondary keywords which will require lot more backlinks than before.
