Yahoo works a bit differently than Google. You should consider 2 sperate advertising efforts, one for Yahoo & the other for Google.

Note: this doesnt apply to anyone on this thread, i am just ranting cuz i got a c on my physics test

obviously you need to learn that Google and Yahoo have a different form of ranking sites. Google uses a complex and unstable form of ranking sites. Unstable as in it keeps changing, anyhow the idea behind Google's complex search involves: links, anchor texts, age and much more. No one on this forum, I can speak for atleast 90% of the people here, knows exactly how google ranks or anything about it, we are all just a massive group of "webmaster scientists" that share our data and make an educated guess or guesses.
Anyhow back to the main point, yahoo, is an area where many of us dont explore. Why not? Well look at it this way, Google is gold and yahoo is silver. Its normal for a human to go for the gold rather then the silver, yet lets say you want the silver. Yahoo is built on a rather weird and basic form of ranking pages. The best word to describe it is "Trustrank".

    have fun googling it

What you said is totally right.
Usually i do SEO in different way for several pages on domain. Homepage for google and sub pages split for yahoo and google.
Never succeed with one homepage can get a good SERP on both google and Yahoo.

Yahoo seems to pick up backlinks quicker than Google, but requires more of them.

I have few sites that do very well in yahoo and not good in google.

In my observation, Yahoo gives importance for on page optimization, content and domain name and some links. Google is all about quality incoming links and regularly updated content.

you have to submit your site in yahoo by filling the form and if you get a site map for your site that will let you get a quick top rank.

It's really not that difficult to get in top on yahoo. I have got a site, goalsnip, that is ranked #1 for the keyword "watch football highlights" and is ranked #7 for "football highlights" and many other keywords. The site is only 2 months old and still ranked on top

well i think yahoo has more users than google.. thats what it says in webvaluer.org though.. if its true, Yahoo is definately worth chasing for...

i just think google is only popular for people who knows a more about computers, but for older folks and those who dont care much but shop and browse around, Yahoo is more popular in their point of view.. :)

Yahoo == quantity over quality. And, they seem to pay more attention to keywords on the page, where Google seems more focused on keywords in the backlink anchor text.

No body knows exactly how Google & Yahoo algorithms work, you can only hear other people experience or experience it yourself. What matters is to rank on both search engines, because the fact that Google has more domination over Yahoo - shouldn't leave Yahoo behind.
