I have a network of financial websites and I'm interested in higher end paid directories, especially related to my niche. I currently have a large budget for each website and plan on submitting to the follow paid directories (but am looking for more) 1 - Yahoo 2 - BOTW 3 - Aviva 4 - ? 5 - ? 6 - ? 7 - ? Any thoughts on other directories you would get into if you had the budget?
It is important to see if you are searching for the links to bring traffic to your pages or to have powerful backlinks. Many web directories have lost PR but some of them are great for link popularity and web traffic. But the older directories are still good.
Well, I'm interested in some of the more expensive and lucrative directories. I'm currently submitting my sites to 2000+ free directories but I would also like to make sure I hit the hot spots like Yahoo, Aviva, Botw.. I'd like to know what other hotspots or (essentials) you feel I'm missing. -Tyler

You can try these, paid high quality & page ranked Directories. I suggest you to go for some advertisement as well, that give you chance to stay on the home page on best location. It will give you visitors + high back link as well. you can try these www.worldwebdirectory.co.uk www.coolseller.co.uk hope it help.
I realize most of you are just going to advertise your directories to me, but I'm honestly looking for an objective opinion on the top 5 all time directories. So far... Yahoo Aviva Best of the web
Yes, definitely be very prepared to have a lot of BS posted within the thread with nothing more than self-promotion. Mikey did in fact give you a more refined and definitive list which did not include any of his directories, but rather instead other directories which he deems himself worthy to mention. mysmehmood <--- this guy is an insult to this thread. This is the type of post to ignore. Rob
Yeah I'm very well aware. I'm not exactly new to this. Thanks for the input an0n, maybe it will thwart some worthless self promotions. I know that DMOZ still is the most acclaimed free directory, and Yahoo, Aviva and BOTW are good paid ones.... I just need two more solid paid directories that rank with the best.
OK, here is the list of my directories Yahoo.com @ $299/year a bit expensive but worth the money. GoGuides.com @ $40 I would suggest to use Express Submit, DO NOT use Easy Submit (sub categories have PR) Sitesnoop.com @ $12.00 (sub categories have PR) Gimpsy @ $40 (authority website) WOW Directory @ $35.00 (authority website) JoeAnt.com @ $39.99 (authority website) Skaffe @ $40 (authority website) BOTW.org $80/year (authority website) Obviously, I was joking...who would not like to own them Anyway, back to your question...list of above directories is not in any particular order of preference. You should submit to all directories, if you have budget. Delay between submissions would depend on different factors: was there any major update or fresh content added or not, anybody working on link building or promoting that website, age is one of them, etc...In my opinion to be safe, for given number of directories I would submit to 2-3 directories a week. Hope it helps!
Well, you think it would be possibly detrimental for submitting to those authority directories all at once? I don't really understand why it would hurt to submit all 15 sites to all 8 or 9 directories within a day or two? Concerning the 2200 free submissions (I'm using Hasans service on the forums here), they are stretched out over 45 days and our sites are very active in general, so it should not seem suspicious.
But instead of self promotion theres nothing to stop each other recommending each others directories as a method of you scratch my back and il scratch yours. So the self promotion stays but with an indirect approach. It stands out a mile, to me at least, on a ton of threads.
Very good point Pipes. I'm taking into consideration the buzz around the directory, the backlinks, age, and overall credibility to make that decision. You can only do your best to predict what might be considered an authority, though.
I see what you mean ItzSS, its cool that your looking into it well, gathering your info before making a move.
To how many directories you should submit your website depends on how competitive is your search phrase. The more competitive phrase, the more directories you will need. Obviously, if quality of the directories is high, then less are needed. Quality directory is the one that show as a authority website in Google...see this image Also these factors are important when choosing quality directory: # Make sure that page rank it's showing on interior pages. Check the page where your link will be placed on, if there is no PR and you don't see page rank on other categories or subcategories then forget that directory unless submission is free # Directories that will allow you to use customised anchor text. Hope this helps
