One of my sites has been #2 for years in MSN. I have not updated the site often in past year nor been agressively going after links. Since last week, the site has slipped, and I cant find it even in the top 100. I rank for obscure terms. All my pages are listed. What should I look for? What can I do? Any help would be appreciated.
Check out this Live Search Webmaster blog post titled, "I'm Not Ranking In Live Search, What Can I Do?" Hope this helps **I added a space after "http" to be able to post this link, so just make sure to take it out after copying and pasting into your browser. http ://blogs.msdn.com/webmaster/archive/2008/01/11/i-m-not-ranking-in-live-search-what-can-i-do.aspx
Have you anchored all of your links with the keywords you want to rank high for? I have found this very helpful with msn, that is strange though that you have been on the top for years then suddenly you got dropped, do you update often? If so what were your last changes<<this may have affected your rankings and if you have not updated recently then the spider may have thought you had a dead site and dropped it. These are some ways in which you may have been booted off the top 100.
You need to increase backlinks to your site. Simply put, search engines give a ranking boost to sites that have links from quality, related sites.
usualy people dont care for MSN SEO, Because hardly people search on it these days. But yes, to regain your Serps, Dofollow backlinks with Anchor text wil surely help you.
i rarely get indexed in msn ... and do you get traffic from live search ? it was said that live search itself is looking for traffic.
I don't really think the answers to his/her question is to just "get more backlinks". They were ranked for years in a top spot, and are now not even in the top 100, which isn't natural. I wonder if it has something to do with the new MSN search engine? Maybe they are updating Algos. It is strange to see a site slip that much. I've seen my site drop from front page in MSN before, but never after holding years of top positions. Hope this helps.
