I am setting up a new site. I put my niche into Overture to see what the stats would be and it came back with the top keyword as just over 3,000. That is very low, does that mean the niche has not been saturated? Or is it just a poorly wanted niche? This niche is a passion of mine and I know that there are millions around the world that do this every day (I'm not going to disclose what the niche is). I have also written a book about the subject (I've been writing it for the past two years) and was hoping to not only use the site to sell the book but also to sell affiliate products related to the niche.
"Bad" is a relevant term. If you're selling space shuttles, then 3k people searching for "buy space shuttles" isn't bad, it's just a small market with a high earning potential. If you're selling a $3 product that you make $.18 per sale, I would drop it. If you want specific advice feel free to contact me.
