I have worked on Rentacoder, guru & Elance.. IMO Elance is definitely the best where you get the best providers and best buyers...

I think, Getafreelancer, Elance, Scriptlance, Getacoder, EUfreelance: all these freelance sites have good freelance market. I personally prefer to work at GAF: you can easily hire service providers there.

Elance is the best freelance site that I have come across. Great buyers and providers.

I'll just add that the best site depends on the type of work you need done. For example, I've had some great luck with writers on GAF but not with coders. I've found better coders on Elance or oDesk.

I'd start with some small jobs at first and get a feel for the folks on each of the sites before making a large commitment.

Depending on the type of quality you want. Getafreelancer is easy to get people to work for you even if you pay peanuts but the return could be a disaster. Elance is more professional. I would go for elance for better quality freelancers.

This is true as well. You just need to experiment with a few sites to really find what is best for you.

    Used GAF and Rentacoder

GAF is cheaper and gets a lot of exposure for your projects
Rentacoder feels more professional and tends to have higher quality freelancers

I'm sure there are service providers that are registered on all of the top freelance sites, so your best bet is to search for a similar project to yours (that is closed, paid for, and feedback traded) on several freelance sites and determine what would suit you best.

    Personally...
-If I need a template monster template customization, I'm fine with working with GAF providers.
-If I need a custom database or advanced scripting, then I'm going to rentacoder.

Also, if I need graphic design work, I'm choosing right here at DP. There are some great designers here.
