So, I am ranked second for the term I want to be ranked for, and my competitor not only ranks #1 for that term but its synonyms too, i have targeted them but I rank #7+ for them, hes #1 all around. I have more links then him, and of higher quality (pr wise atleast) I am just wondering what else i can do, my pages are all already optimized, should i just keep building links or what?? I have more content also... I want to get #1!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Maybe because instead of concentrating on SEO, your competitor is out there creating some quality content? I guess it would be best if you visit his website and check for yourself what he is doing right and you are doing wrong!
i think hes ranking higher because of the age of his site...he started his site 2 years before mine, is there anything i can do to lower the age trust factor
Instead of trying to lower his sites ranking, you need to concentrate on increasing your sites ranking and trust rank. Of course you need to ensure that the traffic that you do get coverts as good as possible. Concentrate on building more links Add more content Ensure there are no duplicate URLs and content on your site Launch an adword campaign for the keywords your competitor is ranking well.
Yeah the age of your competitors website/domain and his ancient backlinks are probably killing you. The only way you can achieve #1 is to steadily keep providing new unique content and gain more quality backlinks. If you haven't already listed yourself in the major directories you might start there. After that or during keep finding contextual links as well. Such as links from blogs or inside of blog posts. If their website is a couple years older than yours, its probably going to be at least a year before you can get to #1. Hope your patient!
Just an add.... besides in creating quality content for users, you can link build twice mean one points on your index and the other one is from your sub pages. It looks difficult but it's an advantage for you. with this kind of strategy.... Good luck!
More links having the term you want in the anchor-text?? Or more high-PR-coming links using that term?
