Top Commentor

I just have a few questions about commenting on blogs and using the top commentor blogs.

    1. Are the numbers in parenthsis next to the list of each commentor the acutal number of comments they have on that blog?

    2. Who decides if you are a top commentor. It is something that WP has setup automatically or does the author assign the position?

    3. How do you know if your comments are being accepted or not? Can you see where you stand on the top commentor list?

    Thanks!

Well, top commentator is the one with most approved comments.

It's just a plugin, no big deal about.

    Yes,

It's an automatic function of the plug in.

That depends on the blog and how it is set up. Some blogs alert you by email that your comment has been approved, but on most, you only know when you see it up.

No you cannot tap into the blogs admin page to see the list of commenters, if you are one of the top one, you will see your name, other than that you have no control over other people's blogs.

Is the Top Commentator decided based on posts in each week, each month or all time ?

itop10, that depends. Some blogs have it set up for lifetime, others have it set up to reset weekly, and others, monthly.

Some blogs even include 'blog authors' authors as top commentator :D It's just a plug-in that counts the number of approved links for a given name + email. I don't know if they have also started including website in that. Top commentator hijacking was get very popular some time ago.

I have noticed the hijacking on some of the sites. Most of them now ask a dumb question that you have to answer.

To stop people from spamming the site and manage links to review ones left by other webmasters just looking for back links, and probably delete them.

I think normally bloggers kept it for a month of time, but where you find handsome amount of traffic flow in comments, blogger may set up for a week time.
