I have this thought, hear me out. Most blogs that has "Top Commentator" plugin installed also has it at Do Follow, meaning the links are crawlable by Google Bots and pass on link juice or authority. Though even if it's No Follow, it still gains decent exposure seeing as it is in all the pages of a site. Now isn't that a better alternative than the Black Hat version of gaining links through Link Buys? It might take a little more effort, but at least you are not spending money. And don't give me that Time is Money crap. We all know a lot of us have time but no money. Some points: 1. It is not against Google's terms and conditions. 2. It is free. 3. Sometimes all you need is 5 comments in to get in the list. 4. The Top Commentators list is on ALL pages, meaning it might be better than 25-35 comments! 5. If you get maybe 10-15 comments in, your link can stay there for a month. 6. Comment Contests Everywhere!!! 7. Even if you don't get in, your Do Follow comment stays in numerous posts. Any thoughts about this before I delve into this commenting venture of mine? I actually have the same thoughts regarding the "Recent Comments" plugin. I'm looking forward to smart objections, since this is just my opinion based on observation. I'm sure both plugins are there to reward meaningful comments, what better way than a fully legal Do Follow link on all pages?
I sometimes comment on blogs which have "Recent Comments" in sidebar, so I pretty much get the same result if I am lucky and Google crawls it in a short time
Cool, so I guess it really is a good alternative then. Guess I'll just have to comment a little more on blogs. Any other input?
Top commentator is almost uselles, you dont want to spend to much time for unceratin results, recent comments widget is better.
you can develop a little software that automaticaly find those acording to a keyword and fill out forms automatically
@ EvcRo: How is it useless by the way? I wanna know all sides to this. Wouldn't it be the case (for Top Commentator) that you get to stay in the sidebar a little while longer? Recent Comments gets replaced easy. Top Commentator might be a little more work but maybe it can be more rewarding in the long run, like for the month. And at times you would just need like 5 comments or so to get in and stay there a while.
@TakyDine: Wouldn't that be like automatic SPAM? Does those actually work? I feel they will just get sent directly over to Akismet. But I am interested with the software that finds the keyword for those, which is that? Thanks!
Actually, recent comments is uncertain, because there is a possibility that you will loose your spot when google crawls the pages.. Top commentators could definitely be awesome if you can invest time and have good ideas...so you won`t have to spam
Absolutely it is great method for link building I'm seeing some good results with it... You can also search google for these site.. "niche" "top commentators" or "niche" "top commenters"
Top commentators is really a nice feature. If you are interested in the topic anyway and the site or blog you are commenting on is topic relevant for your own site, then go for it! You can also look for blogs with few comments
@Javi: I have to agree with the few comments bit. I did find a small article that is a bit related to this: No Follow Also Helps In short, you get more exposure, that's what it says. Thanks for the input!
@Black: I guess that's one way of making the task of searching for these blogs easier Though I find that a lot of SEO blogs have this installed simply because they know what it's worth. Too bad it's not my niche
