There are a number of blog directories that will give you free or reciprocal links to your blog. I have created a list of the top blog directories. The list if made up of directories that are actively adding new listiings. I would appreciate it if you could post other good blog directories that you know of. Thanks.
Here is a good list, though it still continues to list abandoned services (it is noted mostly next to the url or name) and those worth of submit are much less than the total number listed: http://www.masternewmedia.org/rss/top55/
It is a very good list overall. What I am always looking for is real info from those who have submitted and some feedback to share. I am submitting my blog here and there, but hardly ever find time to do so. But whenever someone points out a good one to me, I am game If anyone is a member on my blog forum, feel free to share over here. I have noticed a few useless directories, but also some that have surprised me with some nice extra traffic (like 50-60 hits/day for free which can add up). I'll be watching this thread as well. I have spoken with the ceo of Technorati and Moreover at the SES and there are some great new things on the way when it comes to blog searches. http://www.flickr.com also can get you guys good exposure thru the image search on the homepage. If you have your images on top of their search results, you will find that people will be interested in your blog as well Mike
Feedster also has their list of the top 500 blogs - running a hub finder on those might be a good idea too.
We recently opened a new blog directory at http://www.thevital.net. The site does not support pings, but we review and categorize all sites manually, to ensure high quality. Feel free to submit your blog or news site. Thanks. Chemoul
I am actually really new to blogging. I've registered my blog to as many blog listing sites as I can get my hands on...traffic is light, but I'm patient. I have been using this site: http://www.pingomatic.com I ping different lists to indicate that my site has been updated. Ariston Collander http://www.frenetictech.com
