"Tip #5 - If you must buy links then do not buy blogroll links, sitewide links, footer links, non relevant pages with your links...these types of bought links are known to be an area of abuse...."

I agree that this area gets much abuse, however I see many sites ranking high for very competitive words using this technique. I guess they are running a risk, but at the moment the reward is high with no signs of them getting any kind of penalty.

Linking out to authority sites may help Google know what your site is about, I am not sure about getting your site crawled faster. But you never know it could and it does not hurt anything, I do this with all my new sites.

I've tested this and it works...I've had new sites that have no links at all coming in and all I did was link to a relevant wikipedia page and within a day the new site was indexed...

The algorithm will have a hard time finding paid links but not human quality raters nor when your site gets reported to Google by your competition either..

No...not using the nofollow tag you'll let your juice flow to other site and pages too..

Tips #5 is not applicable; buying links is not good to a website, right?

Buying links works for referral traffic and natural organic growth in the search engines.....so if you do buy links or ad placements don't just think about the links think of the referral traffic.....but I wouldn't suggest buying links in the known areas of abuse such as the blogrolls, footers, sitewide links....these type of links look spammy and are easy to detect or reported if need be..

Is getting indexed really a problem? I mean, simply use one famous social bookmarking site
    and the problem is solved.

It is not really about getting indexed. It is about being able to compete with other sites and be listed on the first page of the major SEs for competitive keywords.

Great article - it looks like a lot will be changing with keyword density and relevance between brand names and keywords. Maybe its time to go back and make some major edits!

In my personal experience Tip #1 is not working at all. It might be just a myth after all.

Tip one improve Your relevance. Using of nofollow tag will prevent loosing of Your PageRank. If You don't use nofollow, Google will think, that You are selling links, and sometimes penalize Your site. Don't link to Your competition - search Wiki - this is good site to any link FROM Your site, with nofollow tag :)

Thanks for Tip #2 - it's cool tip to improve site relevance!

P.S. nofollow tag is only Google domain - yahoo, and others count this links.

What is the relevance of adding NoFollow to external links? I've never really thought of that, does adding the NoFollow Attribute show the Search Engines that you're not selling links etc?

Yeh, nofollow shows Google that you don't want that link to pass any Page Rank
