I didn't say it would improve your rankings just that it would help make your site more relevant IMO...It would help Google better determine what your site is about...

The nofollow is just so your "Juice" from your site wont flow their way....but linking to dominant sites in your niche can help the search engines and users better determine what your site is about...IMO

Have to agree with this, kind of funny & sad, that these are 90% of the type of link being offered up here...

I think I read somewhere where Google cannot or will not penalise you for sites linking to yours, they may not include the link(s) in calculations due to the fact shown above where you could try to sabotage a competitiors site.

    Great tips by the way.

Not sure about #5, and any SERPs bk link analysis would actually disprove this, but I think you're basing this on the idea that Google is moving this direction?

    <a href="http://www.mydomain.com" rel="nofollow">Anchor Text</a>

Hmm...maybe the Google algorithm doesn't necessarily pick up these links but I bet their ....Human quality raters do...And if your site throws up a red flag then your do for a possible hand review....So this IMO is why you should stay away from those easily noticeable bought links that are known to be areas of abuse....

Why do you suggest to use no follow tags on links? Isnt it better to follow?
