I've been searching for how to build links all over this forum.. I can find what to do, but not HOW to do it.
I'm going to try the blog commenting thing today. Thanks for the input. My Alexa traffic at my blog is currently at just under 4,000,000. I'll see what it is tomorrow, and how much impact it makes

I think it's one of those things that depends on the situation. For instance, I don't think that getting a vote on StumbleUpon gives you a backlink, but if something you post goes viral on StumbleUpon, you could get a hundred people posting it on Facebook, Twitter, forums, etc.
Let's say something we create indeed goes viral. Would search engines detect black hat SEO during this process?
My suspicion is that it would not, because the search engines would be able to detect that these links were coming from a wide variety of people all over the world. However, that's just a guess; if anyone else here wants to throw in their more educated opinion on this, that would be great.

I think that the top 5 ways to build links are following: unique and interesting content with high quality, website directories, social bookmarking, articles and forums, and links. I’ve seen that many posts have almost the same answers. It’s great, so we are thinking almost in the same way. Thus, we are doing good job!
