Build. Submit. Forget. Repeat. Don't buy backlinks based on a sites PR. PR is bullshit. Build. Submit. Forget. Build. Submit. Forget. Build. Submit. Forget. Build. Submit. Forget. Build. Submit. Forget.
Hey there, Let me list my top 5 favorite SEO tips. 1. Backlinks, backlinks, backlinks... It is never too early to start getting backlinks. If you start early, getting backlinks will seem more natural. You do not want to get too many at once as it will trigger the google alarms and your links will be devalued. 2. Domain Name - You really should have a domain name related to your niche. You should have a keyword in your domain name. If you look at my freelance programming website, I did not follow my own advice, but at least i have code and buyers in it 3. Title and Description Tags - Always have some keywords in your title and description tags. Yahoo loves this. Always make sure your title and description tags are different for every page. 4. Content, Content, and more content. The best thing you can do out of all of these suggestions is have quality content on your website. There are websites that rank high without hardly any backlinks. Why? Because they have quality content on their website. 5. Keyword Selection - If you are just creating a site, pick non-competitive keywords. Build your site up so that those keywords reach the top of google and yahoo. Then, start working on the competitive keywords. Do not select more than 10 keywords for a single page. Make sure you have a theme on your website. Hope you find these useful. They are pretty common knowledge. Sincerely, Travis Walters
- unique content -- optimized keyword reach content --- w3 validated, properly designed site. ---- Sitemap submitted to search engines ----- Link building
do you have any suggestions for building sitemaps? do you use software? if so what are some pretty good ones for generating sitemaps... I've seen the ones online , but they limit to how many indexes etc.
Directory submission + generic domain names are my techniques. There are different techniques for repeat business though, like branding, etc. TD
It doesn't have to be either. Link building can take time, but that's something that should occur of a long period of time anyway. If the site is innovative in any way, it shouldn't need much in the way of paid links. Brandon
thanks everyone for the great advice. i will start to implement some of these into my daily activities. the way i see it a little of something is better than nothing. i try to aim for 50% sales and 50% marketing in my daily regime. once again thanks for the sound advice. regards steve doyle
If starting the a project from scratch. Keyword Research Buy a good keyword rich domain name (where possible) Design the site with a good navigation structure, using keyword text navigation buttons. Use Keywords in the URLs for category pages Unique Meta-tags for each page using the targeted keywords which relate to the page copy Write good SEO copy or focused content for each page.
Besides trying to have a keyword in your domain name, when you buy it, try and register it for more then just 1 or 2 years. And in regards to having a validated website, that is not a key factor in any optimization. There are thousands of sites out there that rank very well for there keywords and have errors all over the place.
Building backlinks aiming to gain a PageRank should not be your top priority however gaining backlinks from PR websites is an advantage. Google will give your site importance and relevance as you are receiving BL's from high authority sites.
quality backlinks related to your niche is the key in a good SEO.I disagree with the domain name containing any keywords or being related to your niche,it proved over time that this doesn't really matter for Google. Also, the page titles matter big time for G but do not over-stuff it with keywords.
On-page and off page is the way try to read more on this forum SEO is a continues process and always update.
These are my top #5 rules: Find a good niche Have tons of links, deep-links and especially links from authority sites Have alot pages of relevant, unique content (more chances for keyphrases) Have relevant categories and keyword-links, h1, h2 titles and headlines Have seo friendly Urls and a different title for each page
