After working on affiliate sites for the past few years - I would choose one that pays at least $50 per sale - or something that pays a percentage that will pay at least $50 with each sale (and since percentages are usually 10% or so - the price of the sale item would have to be $500 or more).

If you're going to put so much work into building a great site - you might as well get more bang for your buck and earn more with each affiliate sale.

http://www.affiliatetip.com/top_programs.php is a good site for suggestions.

    Hi dynn,

"Top 5 affiliate programs that worth for you to join?"

Everyone would have a different answer. The best programs vary by what your site is about and what your visitors want. Someones top program may be a travel affiliate program, but it would not work for you if you had a teen video game site. Also most strong affiliates don't like sharing their top program because it just creates extra competition for them.

Linda has it right. If your site is about sports, you want sports-related affiliate programs. So it depends on your target market.

I prefer to sign up for programs that offer monthly residual income, meaning I "sell-once, earn forever."

For example, when I set up the Free Traffic Bar at www.freetrafficbar.com, I set it up so my affiliates earn 50% of the money generated by those they refer every month, not just a one time commission. So they keep earning money as long as the people they refer stay a member.

I would urge affiliates to dig deeper than the commission. Ask the affiliate manager what the average order size, average conversion rate and average EPC are for their program.

These numbers will give you a better snapshot of the potential, since some programs with huge commissions have horrible conversion rates and some with seemingly low commissions convert great.

The programs in my list are based on which ones are most popular in my directory.

The traffic is largely coming from the U.S.
