I found that the more the ads blend in with the overall design the better. But need to be careful not to violate the TOS. Also, I like to keep the ads as few as possible. Sonetimes only one per page.

Each site is unique for that reason We must to select the best position, color, keys for our site. I found the right placement for my ads after trying a lot of places, try a placement for your ads for one day and you will see how you ctr and ecpm increases or decreases, until you find your best placement this is my way to improve my adsense revenues.
