Top 250 directories. Is your directory in it?.

Ok. I didn't want to go dropping links or saying "my way or the highway" but since you ask.

I have a couple of directories.

One is a straight directory, listings in alphabetical order. Recips first but they are few and far between because it's a directory and recips aren't required.

The second is a ranking directory for forums.
I use a number of factors to rank the sites. Most haven't submitted to my directory and don't link to my directory.
I know alot about them, their popularity etc. I don't need a hitcounter to do that, forums offer other mechanisms. As do directories - you can track the number of cached pages in the directory as measure of directory owner's commitment to finding the best sites. This penalises niche directories as they won't be as active or large as general directories but it's one measure.

The people who use my ranking directory are looking for information - they're my "customer" - but the information they need is in the forums that I promote. When I walk in their shoes I'm not interested in the alexa, google or any other ranking of the directory. I just want to know what the site it's pointing to is about and that it's good.
I can't guarantee the "good" bit but the ranking tool means that those that are "better" are higher on the page.

now, I've been busy so I haven't returned to your site to see the improvements... but I won't be showing my sites ranks to all my visitors.

My opinion is, however, just that: one person's opinion.
