Are you kidding me? They are offering Rs. 20 per article. That's completely outrageous. Anyone who gives out "free articles" may probably be able to comply with them, but for me, it's worse than slavery....

Nice list - content mills like these can be a good place for new writers to get started. I always advise new writers to diversify though. Don't put all of your "eggs" in one basket - i.e. content mills. There are loads of private clients out there, too and you can make a lot more money with them, too.

Easiest way is to search for clients in the BST section on forums.. or even in other sections. Depending upon your proficiency, reputation and presentation skills, you'll be able to find all kinds of clients on these forums.

style.pk is another site paying for articles related to fashion, beauty tips and health & Fitness. Pakistani writers should check this one as its easy to send money to people from Pakistan.

Getting good clients on DP will not be a big problem - the biggest problem in fact would be the little money they offer in return for your work. My advice is:
    1. Make good, intelligent and helpful posts on forums in sections other than BST.
    2. If you do like to hunt for work in the BST section you can do that but with a little strategy.
    3. If you do wish, you can post your [WTS] thread in BST. Make sure that there are no glaring mistakes in that thread (to say the least) and then if possible, try to point out why you would be a good choice (or the best choice) for the client. Mention your specialty if any. If you don't prefer to, do not mention any writing prices on there (but on DP that usually backfires if you don't have a great sales pitch). You can maybe mention a reasonably good rate for your writing. That way you will be more likely to get approached by the better paying clients only.
    4. Do paste your samples or sample links over there. In case you don't wish to do so, just mention that the client can ask for samples by PM.
    5. If it's okay with you, you can give a free article (review) article in your thread. Review articles are basically unpaid custom created samples for the clients. The review takers may then order more from you and you can also ask if they would be willing to post a good review on your thread (and also your iTrader/feedback). Giving out free samples just kills me, so I never ever do it. But I do offer it to exclusive clients if I think the opportunity is a big one. Most decent clients won't want free samples from you. But if you offer them in your thread itself, there will be several clients who would be more than willing to take them and will usually give you a great feedback in return... so it's not that bad an idea after all.
    6. Look for [WTB] threads and apply to jobs that fit your profile. Always include samples/links in your application.
    7. In case the client is apprehensive (and has a good iTrader too), you can offer to do the work without an upfront or work in small chunks which they can pay for before you move on to the other part of the set.

PS: Increase your post count. If the client sees you are 4 posts old, they will naturally not trust you. You can't do much about your joining date, but you can post on the forum in sections that you are knowledgeable about and build a rep.

    PPS: PM me.

I believe there's something against posting something like this here. The BST section is the appropriate place!

Sorry it took me so long to reply - I didn't have the subscription turned on!

Private clients - yes, forums like this one are a good place to start. Also check out the forums at wahm.com. But there are many other places find private clients I have found them through job boards (problogger.net, freelancewritinggigs.com, etc.) My BEST clients have come from my real life networks. Business owners I know locally. I've also been referred by people who know me from Twitter.
