just FYI... The total global internet office reached a milestone last month, surpassing 1 billion worldwide users aged 15 or more for the first time, according to ComScore. The Asia-Pacific region accounted for the highest share of global internet users at 41%, followed by Europe (28%), North America (18%), Latin-America (7%) and the Middle East & Africa (5%). China officially surpassed the U.S. internet audience for the first time accounting for nearly 18% of the world's users. Google sites led all others in terms of worldwide unique visitors, followed by Microsoft, Yahoo and AOL. Compared to the overall population... there is so much room for the internet to grow! I expect the biggest gains to come from 1) China, 2) India ... possibly 3) Indonesia. Look at the total population of any specific country vs the percentage of that countries population on the internet now. 1) United States 53% of our total population currently use the internet 2) China 13% !! 3) India 2.8% Talk about room to grow... If anyone is thinking of learning another language, may I suggest Mandarin (China) and Hindi (India)
Looks like my country is on no. 7. It will improve quite a lot in near future because internet is now available at affordable rates.
LOTS of room to grow...though according to this survey, it didn't take into account users under the age of 15...which most likely accounts for a greater percentage in every country.
Damn that China! My prediction for 2009: US internet usage levels off, as the citizens feel the pinch of the economy crisis, while China and European countries continue to grow.
I just hope all the scientists are wrong when they say there are going to be mega sun spit storms which could knock out all the infrastructure on the Planet for a very long time (months). None of the satelites or other systems are redundant so expect maybe 0% for all the top countries mentioned. regards
United States 163,300 So only 163 millions ? I read about 230 millions just few years ago, today probably even more. BS.
