Top 10 but PR 0

    Hi there,

I optimized a client's site for their absolute best and most competitive keyword and achieved top 10 ranking. But the site's PR is still 0. What could be the reason for this? I have other sites where the ranking isn't as good but PR is 4.

    Thanks.

    Regards,
    Tom

PR last updated in July. If the site wasn't live in July it will have PR0.

Struggling to believe you have a client when you don't know how PR works.

Also shows how PR and ranking are not (directly) related.

A site's top 10 ranking in the search engines doesn't determine it's Google Pagerank. Pagerank is calculated on the basis of incoming links to your website. I would say wait for the next PR update and see what PR your client's site gets. Similarly high Google PR doesn't necessarily mean top rankings in the SEs.

Ouch. Where did that comment come from?

I guess if you can get clients in top 10 on Google for popular keywords then they don't care if you are a PR god or not.

    Cheers.

We have about 250 unique links coming into the client's site. Most one way and include authoritative sites.

I know PR and rankings don't equal same thing, but would be nice to have both. If only from a hype perspective.

I guess we just need to be more patient.

Sorry, re-reading that comment it didn't come out like I wanted.

    Just making an observation.

There is a PR update going on today apparently so you may get some PR from that.

    The simple answer:

    PR Doesn't matter anymore...

PR doesn't determine how high your website will rank in search results... Your case is prime example of that. Don't be after PR. Your site is ranked high, what are you worried about anymore?

    Cheers,
    Nima

No problem. Can happen to anybody. My initial post didn't come out exactly like I wanted either, nor was it complete.

    Cheers.
