Toolbar PR dancing on established sites

Over the last 1-2 weeks I have noted a bit of a strange phenonemen.

With 2 of my sites, both of which are over a year old, I have been doing some link-building at a steady rate of around 10-20 a day. 1 Site was a PR5, but dropped to a 4 a few months ago, and the other was a 3 and dropped to a 1 about 6 months ago.

What I noted today when checking is that Both of these sites have updated to their former PR values. I thought it was strange that they have changed as I know the Toolbar PR generally only updates around every 3 months or so.

I am using one of the many multi-DC PR checking tools that are available and the results are rather surprising to me. There has been some changes in the last week or so for the sites that I am actively working on building links to.

Just wondering if anyone else has experienced anthing similar?

As an added bonus, the PR3 site has jumped to 7 in G serps (out of 76Million), 4 in Y serps and 1 in MSN serps for the main keyword.

Well, my keyphrase suddenly went number 1 after 5 months.
It wasn't even in the top 30 pages previously.

Perhaps there is some update going on?

PR update and SERP update is two different things.
SERP updates occur quite often but PR updates only 4-6 times in a year. :)

Either it's not your imagination or its a group hallucination. I've seen a couple of similar reports. Looks like the changes are well confined to a handful of domains. Makes you wonder how many handfuls make a googol?
