    You can pick up some sentences from your article which you believe no one else will have and search in google within quotes. But that is not a very accurate method and its time consuming as well. Using copyscape is far better and easier option.

    Besides Copyscape like everyone is suggesting, try out Google Webmaster Tools. Here you'll be told of duplicate issues that need to be resolved!

    The best thing to do is to have an open minded. If you take duplicate, It would not be read in the Google and Yahoo ad.

    If you need to check duplicated content frequently on a regular basis than Copyscape, If you need to check seldom than you can type your text in google's search box withing double quotes.Both methods will work fine..
