If I want to target competitive keywords like : online poker. Is it wise to make this the page title and the H1 heading of the page? I see SEO tools that recommend AT LEAST 3 words, some say at least 8. I use 2-3 words and I find it VERY EASY to rank high for non-competitive keyywords (50-1000 searches per month). But I go nowhere for keywords with close to 40.000 - 100.000 searches per month. So should I listen to the SEO tools? Should I do it only for the competitive keywords?
Lpe04, what do you mean? The site is 3-4 months old. It has a traffic of 15-20 hits per day. Some quality articles that keep increasing. Very few backlinks. So what should I do in this case?
you can make title like online poker, play online poker, online poker usa same as make description using these 3 keywords and add these in H1 tag also.
To answer your question, it seems that the more to the point your title and headings are, the better. So short is probably good. But at that level tweaks in the title and heading don't make much difference. To compete with strong sites in competitive niches, you need more than optimized titles and headings.
Well, since the points mentioned are among the On page optimization factors, try using them in a natural way and expect them not doing magics for you since links are going to say the first and last word in the top competitive markets and web niches. Shorter and to the point sentences could be good, not merely the main words.
