Too many words in my title?

I run an online community for alumni, campers, staff, and parents of a summer camp in indiana. Am I using too many words in this title tag?

"Photos, news, and stories for Alumni of Culver Academy Military Summer Camps for Teens"

Should I shorten it a bit? I guess I need to focus my niche down a little more.

    How about :

Military Summer Camps for Teens - Photos, news and stories of Summer camps for teens.
    or
Culver Military Camps for kids ......

something like that. always try to have the main keyword on the first couple of words

    Good tip. Thanks.

    How about:

"Culver Academy Military Summer Camp - Photos and news for alumni, campers, staff, and parents on Go Culver.com"

Is it too long? Is length ever an issue? Do I need even mention the name of the site if no one ever searches specifically for that?

Lenght is an issue, of course. With more keywords in the title you are reducing the importance each one gets. Keep your title short and concise.

"Culver Military Academy Summer Camps Blog"

Lets try that for a bit. There are other sections of my site that use some of those other keywords if I think about it.

it's better if the title is different for each page;) (relate to the page topic)

I agree with the advice above - try limiting your title tag to as few keywords as possible, and change them on a page-by-page basis, based on the page's main keywords. In my experience, this will yield the best SEO results. :)

Cool. I've done a nice job of that in wordpress, my forums, and my wiki, making sure that in single post view or category view, that the proper stuff is up in the title, something different for each page. Ok, shorter is better. We'll see how this new title develops over the next few weeks with the G.

    Hi bflora,

Hope that you are doing great with the improved title tags :)
As a general guide, keep the title tags somewhere between 40 to 60 characters.

    Good luck :)
