Ok, so I put a data feed in yahoo shopping and I have over 20,000 products. I instantly, gained thousands of backlinks from yahoo shopping. I noticed my site is getting de-indexed (did have 20k indexed and now only 5k). I also am gettting less trafffic. Could it be because of the mass linkage from yahoo?

Do you really have 20,000 unique products with unique copy?

Not that it's not possible, but it sounds like you'd do better in organic to consolidate...

How long ago was this? Its hard to say if its only within a span of a few days. These things fluctuate a lot.

probably more than that. Hows that not possible? Thats actually somewhat of a small inventory. We are about to make a major expansion to 100,000 products. Sites like aamazon.com have over 50,000,000 products indexed.

It started happening a couple weeks ago, but I figured google was just fluctuating but i keep getting more undexed and more and more...

I am no expert in google habits - but if it is any consolation my indexing was been bouncing all over the place as well for a while - with *no* real dramatic change of backlinks, just 100% organic backlinks coming in - literally a few a day. I was steadily dropping for a while, for no reason I could think of, then indexing came back up recently.

Either way - best of luck with your indexing woes :)

What do you mean exactly when you say you "put a data feed in Yahoo shopping"?

first of all, isn't it a redirect url (rd.ss.yahoo.com)?
second,shopping.yahoo.com is just one site.being linked to one site isn't going to hurt you,but it can knock your site or just the keyword out of serps for a short time, but it'll bounce back.
