    Hey guys,

I have a new website and have already got some high quality links pointing to it, but need to know the correct strategy for building links.

I can get hold of 10,000 relevant links pointing to my site....Should I do this? Wont the search engines ban me? Having a new site and then suddenely getting 10,000 links will raise eyebrows?

If your site is not linking to bad communities or spammy sites it won't get penalized. External factors cannot penalize your site.
Othwerwise it would be too easy for the competition to get you out of the business.

As long as all of your links are high quality links, you should be fine.

from what i've heard, google not only pays attention to the links you get, but also how quickly you get them, if you build links in a way that appears unnatural to google they might blacklist you, or so i've heard.

I would say you shouldn't get too many links at once.

Yeah I'd be careful, thats a lot to add all at once. You could throw some of those my way if you have extra =)

Getting links too fast can raise the flags. So, build links slowly and consistently.

Need to ask yourself if Google has someone to review your site, would they have reason to think that your link building is done to manipulate your search rankings.

    If yes, then be careful.

If no, then the more the merrier.

You will get ban if you get a lot of links too fast. It just like a baby that was just born and he can start running. How can be ?
You must build a link slowly and look naturally.

yah, wait 6-9 months, building solid backlinks between now and then, and then get those 10,000 after about 6-9 months

There is no way that the search engine is going to ban you for having too many links to your site. The quality of a backlink depends on; anchor text, anchor text variations, time frame, quality of the page that link is on.

If search engines baned sites for having to many links then it would be just to easy to get rid of the competition. Just make sure you do not link to crappy sites.

There is filter called "too many links at once". If you don't want to feel it on your site keep in mind 500 links/month amount for the brand new sites.

With mass traffic and submission packages you just can't be sure it's all quality, so it's probably not worth it for a new site.

It's best to build up backlinks slowly. Going fast mightn't get you banned, but Google is suspicious of sites which gain a lot of backlinks very quickly.
