Too many link pages are built for search engines and not human visitors.

We see them everyday in our in box."I would like to link to your site".
I suggest you choose your links and create your links pages with as much care as you would your homepage.

Go to the web site requesting to link with you and check for the following:

    1. Has the homepage been indexed by Google, Yahoo, MSN or Ask.com?
    2. Is the link page where they plan to place your web site hyperlink within their domain.
    3. How many links are on the links page? Less than 100 or over 100?
    4. Are the links relevant to YOUR business or are they mixed?
    5. Finally and MOST IMPORTANT - Pretending for a moment that search engines do not exist. Now ask yourself, 'Is this a useful place or resource for a web site visitor'.

Well said. I would say no more than 50 links though.

I agree, that's why I tend to disapprove around 80% of the sites that ask to be added. Some don't even bother to pick the right category!
