I am a nebie in CB. I am marketing through a social blogging site and i get on an average 400-500 hops for my product on movie downloads. But i get hardly a sale a week. why is it so ? the conversion rate is too low sometimes 1:3000 .I am disgusted. Kindly help me. I do not know how to cloak my link and use tinyurl. the php is not supported by my host. further is it true that i canno t make a good income by free blogging??!!

    You are getting curiosity clicks.

You shall learn a very important lesson: "Not all clicks are created equal."

If you want to make sales you need to get "wallet out" clicks.

I do not recommend using a free blogging site (blogger I imagine?) ... If you are serious about making money online, get your own domain!

Also, you may want to try some other products/niches. It can take awhile to find the right product/niche.

I promote in a similar way, with a similar site and yes often these people are teenagers with no money, or people with very little intrest, as such I tend to get a sale hop ratio of around 1:550 but I don't care so much as its free traffic.

maybe you could make sure that you give people a price when they first click the link that takes them to your destination page. It should stop curiousity clicks at least to some point. They will hopefully think twice before clicking...

You need targeted traffic that is looking to buy with their credit card in their hands my friend. Someone looking to purchase a beauty kit won't be keen on buying an anti-virus software.

Try different niches. If you're using a social blogging site to promote your stuff, research the site for a niche that people are show interest in buying stuff from.

If its your own product you need to be improving the sales copy... Go get MuVar (www.muvar) and start testing out variables to improve the conversion ratio. It may take some time depending on the amount and quality of traffic but it will improve your conversion ratios.

You may also want to checkout www.articlesintotraffic.com - although the data is still new its currently converting visitors into sales at 1.95% with a .97 visitor value.

    Great advice, love the post.

I'm having the same problem. I used to get 5-6 sales a day with my PPC. Now I'm lucky if I get 1-2.

The only thing thats changed is my keyword is Now trademark so I can't bid on it anymore... so my CTR is lower, which makes it more expensive and now I'm getting less clicks. Which sucks! I can't find a way around it other the shutting down my PPC and going SEO.

Which I'm probably going to do tonight. :(
