I am getting ready to promote my site heavily next week, so I'm it up this weekend, and I was just wondering about ad banners. Do you think they will drive visitors away? I have two above my header (1 of them is adsense, the other is one I made to promote my BlogRush refer link). Is that too much? http://www.juicedsportsblog.com to see. Also, what do you think of my layout overall?
Yeah there are quite a few ads, maybe tone that down a bit.... and on a personal note, I suggest trying to use a different background color fro the blog. To me, it doesn't really match all that well. Seems like your all over the color map, yellow-tanish, black, blue. and then theres that gigantic empty space by the amazon ad (bottom)...you may want to do something about that.
26.7% of Johnchow.com is ads, and he pulls in $17k/m, so there is no "100% finite" answer to this question. Generally you do not want to harass the visitor though.
Do you think it would look better if I changed the right sidebar to peachish like the rest of the background?
It only has 3 ad links, as much as most Adsense blogs, is there any thing else I can do to speed up it's loading?
I read that images are one of the leading reasons for websites loading slow. I think that images greatly add to my site. Are images a big enough drain that they warrent my removing them?
Yes, I think too many ads on one website, drives people away, I think a few Google ad banners go a longer way, then diluting your website in 10 ad banners. Also, you should try to stay away from bright ad colours and ads that aren't really related to yoru site at all.
Didn't have a problem with loading, it loaded in 2 seconds for me. With only a quick scroll down, all I saw was an Amazon ad.
Yeah, I have changed it since I got feedback, but I do have some Adsense on the sidebar that are well blended.
