Too many ads - a negative?

Hello all,

This is my site: http://www.shadystudent.co.uk

I am tempted to add more ads to our site (8 of us!!!), but is too many ads really a bad thing since they generate a load of money!!! Do you think ads is appropriate for the site above? Our audience is students.

There are more ads on other pages.

Are you asking if it's OK to add ADs here and there into your site? Ads aren't bad as long as you don't overdo it. Too many ads will make your site look annoying.

Just a piece of advice -- If you wish to add ads to your site, choose the ones that you think will be helpful to students.

I try to make my ads relevant to students like you said affearner..but its so tempting to add more since the prospects of earning is increased! But like you've said their is a trade off between ads, relevance and annoying visitors! Its just hard to get the balance right!

 

I'd like to suggest that you just put off irrelevant ads for your other sites. Or if you want to add them then add extra page to your site where you can put all of those not-for-students ads.

 

Adding ads to a site is a very good idea only if it's an information site. If it is a shopping site where you are selling your own products then don't put ads to external sites on it as at the end of the day you want your customers to buy your products and not go to the external sites.

When putting ads on a site, it is good to place them out well and don't make the site cluttered with ads. The more content you have per page the more ads you can put on without the page looking to cluttered with the ads.

What ever you do, don't go over the top with the ads as most of your users most probably goes to your site for the information and not the ads so you don't want the ads to over power the information on the actual individual pages.
