After much research on permalinks ive decided that its best to use them, now i have almost 100+ unique articles hand written by me & am getting 5-6k daily uniques, Now as i understand it if i change to permalinks now this can be damaging for my traffic. Is there a way around losing rankings / page rank / visitors if i do enable this feature ? I think long term this will be beneficial but i can afford to go from 5-6k to 20-30 people .. What are your thoughs on this topic ? Thanks
Make sure you 301 redirect all the pages to the new URL's, the hope that google is nice to you lol , personally if you are getting that kind of traffic i wouldnt touch it. All major search engines can read dynamic urls with out much trouble and can see your title text too so, take DP for example just about every webmaster, seo or marketing question you search for in google, DP will be somewhere in the top 20
Yes riverwire you make a good point, i guess if it aint broke dont fix it.. i dont want to play around with my traffic so i think i'll leave this and in future switch on permalinks from the start. Thanks
Like riverwire said, make sure you get up redirects to the new page. You don't want to have duplicate content. I changed my link structure to one of my sites a while back and the search engines caught on to the new links without a problem or glitch in my traffic.
