Quick ? I am working on helping a friend with his movie trailer website. The idea would be to get prime placement on the term "movie title trailer." So far things are working great for the hot current stuff. But we are looking at planning ahead for upcoming big releases (Avengers, Harry Potter, etc). My question is do you recommend putting something on the home page now about these movie trailers, even though they aren't out but some kind of coming soon so the meta data is there, keywords, etc or will that actually hurt us when we actually do get the trailer and want to make a splash? Curious for anyone's thoughts. I lean on both sides here personally. Thank you
Damn that's a hard question. Because Google has changed it's algorithm lately and they want to have the newest news and pages on page 1. But again if you launch it already, you can build backlinks faster and that the page is getting more value on it. I think finally it depends on how important Google sees your website. If it counts as a big site and get indexed several times a day then it's an important website and then I suggest you to wait and publish the trailer when it comes down because it will be like hot stuff infront of google's eye. But if it's the opposite, then I suggest you publish it now to get some ranking.
I would put some information on the home page about upcoming movie trailers as well as the date when they are going to be published. This way visitors will know when to come back and check your website again. Try publishing info for some trailers ahead of time and others only when they come out. You could experiment with this and see which method works best for you.
Since moving the new trailers to the front page and with some SEO work the site is getting great placement on google for some of the new hot titles. So google is really giving this site a lot of good placement. The site is incredibly deep, been around for almost 15 yrs and has a PR of 8. I just want to see if we can do better with future titles. You are right though. We are going to have to see a cycle out in full from pre-production-release and see how they fair as opposed to the current method. Thanks a lot and any other opinions are always welcome
